School-based materials:
Our school-based booklets are streamlined into three categories, school-based reading booklet (SBR), school- based grammar and usage booklet (SBG) and school-based writing booklet (SBW). This change ensures that students are exposed to a larger variety of text types in reading and provides them with stronger preparation before writing tasks.
Differentiated Assessment:
- The use of formative and summative assessments with tiered tasks (Basic, Intermediate, Advanced).
- Reading comprehension assessments include reflection sheets to develop students' self-monitoring and planning skills.
Immersive Learning with AR/VR:
Utilizing VR/AR technology to heighten learning interest and deepen understanding of English topics.
Flipped Classroom:
- Students from P2 to P6 use platforms like Padlet and Edpuzzle for pre-lesson preparation and extended learning, enhancing classroom interaction and effectiveness.
Multiple intelligences teaching and assessment:
- Teaching strategies and assessment tasks are designed to cater to and value different intelligences (e.g., verbal-linguistic, interpersonal, spatial). This allows students to demonstrate their understanding and creativity in diverse ways.
A deeper connection to Chinese culture:
- Our KS2 English curriculum welcomes ‘DTS Treasured China unit', a brand-new real-life literacy programme developed by the NET section, EDB. This exciting unit encourages students to discover the concept of culture through an understanding of famous places, food, art and history of different regions of the Mainland China, which facilitates the integration of National Security Education into the school-based English Language curriculum.
