Dear Wahyanites,
It is an unparalleled privilege to be part of a school rooted in the Jesuit tradition, woven into the fabric of the Jesuit Global Network of Schools—a community that spans over 2,500 schools and reaches more than 1.6 million students worldwide. At Pun U Wah Yan, we are called to embody the spirit of Magis, continuously striving for betterment with heartfelt dedication. Guided by the principles of courtesy, benevolence, Magis, and integrity, we strive to nurture students who embody the values of our faith and are equipped with the wisdom and skills needed to thrive in today's world. This pursuit of Magis reflects the core ethos of the Society of Jesus—Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—"For the Greater Glory of God."
As Wahyanites, you are invited to journey toward personal growth and betterment through mindful reflection on your learning experiences. This process doesn’t require comparisons with others, but instead invites you to thoughtfully compare yourself with your past self, challenging you to grow incrementally each day. With every step forward, you are preparing to embrace life's responsibilities, building the foundation to serve others and embody the noble Jesuit ideal of being Men for and with Others.
Our mission is to shape you into Men of Human Excellence, strengthened by the virtues captured in the Four Cs: Competence, Compassion, Commitment, and Conscience. These defining qualities are central to Jesuit education and will guide you in your transformative years at Pun U Wah Yan.
Over the course of six years, you are expected to lay a robust knowledge base while cultivating skills and attitudes that will empower you to advance human fulfilment. You are encouraged to engage with reality, ask meaningful questions, develop creative solutions, and embody lifelong learning. You sharpen your ability to think critically and apply your knowledge in significant, impactful ways. Day by day, you carry within you the competence to make the world a better place.
As followers in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, you are nurtured to open your hearts with empathy and solidarity towards others. Compassion begins with understanding your own struggles and imperfections, empowering you to uplift others while standing against injustice. True compassion transforms into a sense of justice and active solidarity as you work tirelessly toward equity and fairness. This virtue calls for a readiness not only to serve those in need but also to advocate for those who are marginalized, ensuring no voice goes unnoticed.
To be men of commitment means participating courageously in your communities and the broader world. Your values and beliefs will guide you to take bold, decisive actions for the greater good. This commitment extends to addressing urgent needs, healing broken relationships, promoting social justice, and safeguarding our fragile Earth. By placing love at the centre of your intentions, your commitment will resonate deeply and bring about meaningful change.
In order to make ethical decisions, you must develop a strong conscience—an inner compass that guides your choices. This means understanding your emotions and reflecting on your values, as well as the imbalances and injustices within society. Through the lens of Jesuit spirituality, you will learn to discern what is good, true, and just, making deliberate choices that uphold the common good. You are invited to see the world as God sees it: recognizing the beauty and goodness of creation while confronting places of pain, suffering, and inequality with grace and resolve.
The journey of growing into Men of Human Excellence begins deeply within your heart. One transformative practice that will guide you along this path is the Examen. This traditional Jesuit prayer invites you to pause each day for quiet reflection, fostering awareness of your emotions, gratitude for life’s blessings, and clarity in setting goals for continuous improvement. Through the Examen, you connect with the Spirit, seek guidance, and discover the presence of God in all things, turning ordinary moments into opportunities for extraordinary growth.
Rest assured, Wahyanites, you are never alone on this winding path of discovery. Your teachers are steadfast companions, dedicated to walking alongside you, listening to your struggles and triumphs, and nurturing your unique potential. At Pun U Wah Yan, we live out the Jesuit principle of cura personalis, or care for the whole person. Our unwavering commitment to your well-being stems from an earnest desire to see you flourish, not only within the boundaries of our school but also as you venture out to transform the world.
In the Jubilee Year of 2025, let us embrace the shared mission to become pilgrims of hope. Together, let us commit to the continuous transformation of ourselves into Men of Human Excellence, equipping ourselves to bring light and hope to those around us.
With heartfelt wishes for your fruitful journey,
Yours sincerely in Christ,

Dear students, staff, parents, and alumni,
With deep gratitude and a profound sense of honour, I write to you today as the newly appointed Supervisor of Pun U Association Wah Yan Primary School. I am genuinely thrilled to join this esteemed institution and contribute to its rich traditions of Jesuit education.
In my role as Supervisor, I have outlined three key missions to guide our collective journey of love forward. Firstly, my utmost priority is to realize our school vision and safeguard the quality of Jesuit education at the school. It is my foremost mission to ensure that our unique Jesuit educational framework, which is the cornerstone of our school's identity and values, thrives in its three-fold purposes—evangelization, whole-person formation, and preparing our students for future responsibilities. We aim to nurture not just academically proficient individuals but compassionate, religiously and morally grounded, and socially responsible gentlemen who will carry forward the spirit of Jesuit education throughout their lives to be Men for and with Others.
As the Supervisor, I am committed to supporting school-based management and facilitating sustainable school development. I pledge to work closely with our Principal and staff to foster a healthy, enjoyable, and reflective learning journey for every student to unlock their God-given talents. This involves creating a learning environment conducive to growth and development, ensuring each student receives an enriching educational experience that continuously evolves for the betterment of our school, its community, Hong Kong, China and the world.
I also aim to strengthen the connection with Wah Yan College, Hong Kong, to ensure a seamless and high-quality educational pathway for our students. By reinforcing our bond with Wah Yan College, Hong Kong, we assure you that our students will benefit from a continuous 12-year Jesuit education—a journey marked by academic excellence, character formation, lifelong learning, and the heart to serve.
Furthermore, I am dedicated to walking with and working for every student, teacher, and staff member within our school community. Together, we will strive to create a nourishing and intellectually stimulating environment that inspires, empowers, and prepares our young gentlemen for the challenges and opportunities of the future.
I eagerly look forward to embarking on this meaningful journey of love with all of you. Together, we will build a hope-filled future for our next generation of leaders, thinkers, and doers. I am filled with anticipation for the fruitful times and the positivity we will bring together.
With gratitude and blessings,
Warren Chung
